Our School welcomed early-career researchers from China and abroad on 26 December for the mechanical engineering session of SEU’s 10th International Young Scholars Forum. The event brought visiting researchers together with Dean Fei Qingguo, Vice Deans Sun Dongke and Wang Qianqian, and faculty representatives.

Dean Fei Qingguo emphasized the role of early-career researchers in the future of the discipline and our School’s commitment to recruiting and supporting them. He outlined the School’s history, faculty, research areas, degree programmes, international partnerships and development plans, and invited participants to consider joining the School.

Faculty members Prof. Li Nanya, Prof. Wang Xiaoyu and Prof. Fan Haiyan shared their experiences of applying for a high-level fund program for excellent young scientists overseas. They discussed key challenges in the application process and offered practical advice on refining application materials.

Participants then gave research presentations, both in person and online, outlining their research interests and latest findings. Following the discussions, they toured our School’s Smart Manufacturing Research and Demonstration Centre and other major research facilities, accompanied by faculty members and students.

The forum provided opportunities to exchange ideas, explore new research directions and learn about academic careers at the School. It also supported our School’s efforts to recruit researchers, strengthen its academic programmes and expand its capacity for research and innovation. Our School plans to continue hosting academic exchanges and attracting researchers from China and abroad to advance mechanical engineering research and contribute to technological and industrial development.
